Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution Focused Brief Therapy puts the solution in the absolute center of the process. The explanation for a problem is not primarily required. Steve de Shazer (1940-2005), one of the founders of this method, claimed he could follow through a complete short-term therapy successfully without ever talking or even knowing about the problem. Solution Focused Brief Therapy is estimated that for solutions of problems, especially those we encounter in the consultation it is not necessary to know the origin of its existence or all relevant references to understand the problem context. Instead, from the first contact on, the focus should be laid on the factors associated with the possible and desired solution to the problem. It should focus on the needs, goals, resources, and, according to de Shazer especially on exceptions to the problems.

If something works, do more of that if something does not work, do something different (Steve de Shazer)
